Life with Ava

My baby is growing up. She's 13 months old today. J was making fun of me on Saturday because I got mad at him for telling someone she was 13 months old - I don't want to rush it a minute earlier than absolutely necessary. I have a whole rant about the recommendation of weaning them from bottles at 12 months! For the record, I will not be. Ava gets 3 bottles a day and never has them to carry around. She gets a cup for that and bottles are only before naptime and bed. I figure we'll make a hard core effort between 18-24 months.

Hard to believe she's been with us for over 3 months now. I can't remember what it was like before Ava and I don't want to.

I think we've turned a corner at daycare. She's eating, drinking, and napping almost on schedule and she doesn't cry when I leave anymore as long as I make sure she's occupied with a toy before I go. She also has a little friend who's the exact same age and it is so, so cute to see them together. The lack of crying in the AM almost hurts my feelings since I'd like for her to miss us a little but I'm truly glad it's not so traumatic for her.

While Ava is growing up, I'm going up…in size that is. Since we've been home from China I've managed to gain almost 6 pounds. This has pushed me up a size so I went shopping at Kohl's for a few new pair of pants. J kept Ava in the car while I did a marathon, 10 minute shopping trip. I went in and bought 8 pair of capris and pants with the plan to try them on at home since I had little time to shop and return them later. It looks like 4 of the 8 will be going back.

A few months ago I would have cared that I'd gained some weight but now - not so much. I have too many other things to worry about so I really haven't had time to think about it. I do know I need to lose it and I think I will now that I'm back to work. What was killing me was the scheduled meal times because if she ate then I would eat, too.

Next thing you know I'll be cutting my hair into a mommy cut. Or not!
