Life with Ava

Firsts that happened today:

1. She took 3 unassisted steps to me this afternoon. Ava was playing and I was sitting near her on the floor talking on the phone with my sister when all of a sudden Ava turned around and started heading to me. I shrieked, of course, and she was so very proud of herself. She did it once more and then decided that was enough. Apparently she did not want to show J that she could walk a little bit and promptly decided to crawl everywhere else for the rest of the day.
2. She got her first bloody lip (totally unrelated to the walking experience). Since she's been teething the latest top 2 teeth she has this habit of pulling her bottom lip into her mouth. She was doing this at daycare today when she thumped backward onto her butt and bit her lip when she fell. She looks so pitiful with her fat lip but she's perfectly fine. Her nanny was so apologetic and seemed nervous that I would freak out or something. I've seen her do this a million times at home so it's just a wonder that it hasn't happened before now.

Not a first today but it's amazing how much steadier she is on her feet (still not very, though). She's letting go and can stand unassisted for about 5-10 seconds before realizing she's standing and then thunking over onto her rear end (see #2 above).

This kid is so awesome!
